Humantics Foundation Breast Implants: Recovery & Discovery |

My fan club {as they named themselved} ... are having a field day with their Smear Campaign against me ... rehashing repeats of their rehashes ... and then some! Between the silicone manufacturers, the Plastic Surgeons, and the Quackwatch/Junkscience.com Team, I've certainly managed to ruffle a few of those feathers in my advocacy for women harmed by breast implants. I have refused to be silent or "walk both sides of the aisle" ... whitewashing the issue of the continuing cover-up by the breast implant industry and using their "it's a woman's choice" propaganda about an unsafe, unproven medical device. Women have a right to choose from safe products ... and to receive unbiased, fair, and accurate information from which to make their decisions. The PR "flacks" fill blogs and Usenet with as many defamatory things as their communal PR genius can come up with, claiming I am the most "hated" poster on Usenet, I'm a "fraud" a "quack," ignorant, selfish, fat, old, ugly and a thief. They've claimed repeatedly I robbed a young Costa Rican woman who I helped advocate for a few years ago. Personally, I buy none of it ... and in response to their latest missives, I will repost this page and update it soon. I haven't had it linked to my website before and now realize that the Quackwatch Team and the silicone sellers are quite united in their efforts to harm my good name, and that of the Humantics Foundation, and I do need to counterbalance the volume of false and defamatory statements they are making to fill the internet. Here are just a few notes I compiled a while ago ... I will be updating this page and if you would like to have your comments included, please send email below. If you want to read one article that shows why the breast implant industry might try to silence me, click here to read: Silicone Cover Up and Political Manipulations by Ilena in 1996 Here's another, far more recent, February 13, 2006: MyDNA: Implants: Safe? |

May 23, 2007 Hello Ilena, ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ May 15, 2007 Ilena, Can you forward this to all the wonderful women who sent me lovely emails wishing me well! It was so nice to hear from others who are/were in the same situation and their prayers and good wishes were/are MUCH appreciated! Surgery went well, one implant had ruptured, but hopefully the silicone was held within the scar tissue sack (encapsulated). Dr. Chun removed the implants intact within the capsules and sent them to a lab, nothing remarkable in the lab report. Course, we all know silicone bits can go where the eye cannot see, so time will tell I suppose. Had drainage tubes, one for each side…yipppeeee…NOT! Was thankful when they were taken out on the 7th day. Thick scars under each breast and holes healing on outer side of each breast, makes wearing a bra painful. I usually heal well, so hopefully the scars will flatten out and almost disappear. Appearance-wise, I had no idea what to expect, but am quite happy with result. Saggy…but happy! ;-) It's odd, I had not seen my "real" breasts in over 20 years, but they are much the same w/o implants, just a little droopier and softer. My husband and I are both pleased. AND, the most important part is that I FEEL LIKE I AM REAL AGAIN! It's kind of nice to be just me, mentally, I feel authentic. Am hoping that little to none of the silicone had migrated, but since they were in 20+ years, I know that is a big hope. The symptoms that pushed me to have the implants removed; dizziness, muscle aches, joint aches are not gone, but maybe in time. The doctor prescribed Celebrex for pain/inflammation, Vicodin for pain and Keflex for antibiotic. The Celebrex took all my joint/muscle pain away…interesting. As an FYI to anyone taking Keflex…this antibiotic can (and often does) kill not only the bad bacteria, but the good intestinal bacteria too…which can lead to colitis and such. Make sure you eat yogurt that contains live cultures when taking any antibiotics, this will help keep the good bacteria alive and also help keep vaginal yeast from flourishing (which can lead to yeast infection). Again – thanks for all the good wishes and support!!! Please feel free to contact me if you are planning on having implants removed, happy to share any info. I can. Take care, Alice

Subject: THANK YOU FROM EUROPE Dear Ilena, I have been asked by hundreds of women in the UK and Europe to thank you for your information. Your board is a lifeline to these women who can only gain access to vital information through you. They have asked that I thank you for the hundreds of free packages you have sent to them over the years never asking for money up front only a small donation if Many of these women report their requests for information have been ignored by some other groups or payment was demanded upfront, especially information needed on children. Your dedication and willingness to share any information you have has not gone unnoticed by thousands who are ill in Europe. Thank you for all you have done for these women. M. Cameron......Silicone Support UK. April 3, 2006 Ilena ~ Hello & goodmorning. This is so very sad. I signed up for your update letters & they are very informative.
Thank you for all you do. I sure appreciate the news and being kept posted!
I am 35 years old & diagnosed with 11 different medical conditions & tumors now from Silicone implants that were ruptured.
I have been very sick now for 4 years!
I got them in 1990 and had them out ( paid for it with a loan from our bank because insurance only reimbursed me like 400.00 out of 5,000!)
...
Thank you & May God Bless you Always for your strength & Courage!

January 16, 2003 Dear Ilena,
Christine H
Thank you very much for opening the door to all these wonderful women who have written and shared their stories with me. I don't know how you've done it, but I'm amazed at the response. My husband agrees that it's not worth the risk to wait around and see how I'm feeling a year from now. I'm moving forward with making contact with a Dr in Denver to get my implants removed. Oh, how I hope it turns this disease around. Your purpose in this life is evident, and you should be so very proud of what you have accomplished. I've been a basket case lately, and these e-mails are my solace. I can never thank you enough. Enjoy life, and may God keep you healthy and happy. Tammy From : Lana Dell
Again, thank you so much for your wonderful cause, I swear I will not Lana
I'm amazed at all the kind,
Although I have only been with the support group for several months I have come to know what a wonderful person you are, having given of your time and talent to help bring much needed information to all us sisters who so desperately are in need of help and information. May the God of all bless you all your days and you find much peace and happiness with your new family and they with you in the years to come. Love,
